The Schaffer Residence, designed by John Lautner and used as George Falconer's house in Tom Ford's "A Single Man". Such a cool house for such a cool customer (as to which cool customer, George or Colin take your pick).

Fortunately in just over a week we're getting released (sorry, we're breaking up) from school for summer, which of course for a moaning adolescent seems about three months overdue. The thing I'm looking forward to doing most is doing nothing, i.e. general slovenliness and procrastination. For weeks teachers have been drilling into us that school hasn't finished yet and that we still have lots of very important life or death matters to deal with (Please stop skiving and going to Tesco! PLEASE), which translates to the tired mind as "blblbgfflglblfglblflbf-offnextweek-vdfs". Looking forward to that.

HAILEE STEINFELD: MIU MIU A/W 2011 CAMPAIGN
Today the company released this shot from their forthcoming A/W campaign, which features the fourteen year old (Oscar-nominated) actress "just chillin" in front of a "No Trespassing" sign, and generally tearing shit down. Definitely True Grit 2.0. Miu Miu have secured their position as the most sought after brand today, paving the way with their eversosuave campaigns and giving its sister brand Prada a run for its money. I googled the advertisement and found a link to the "Daily Mail Style Director" (Jesus) Liz Jones' view on the advertisement. After a brainstorming session searching for possible causes for controversy, in true Daily Mail fashion, she had this to say:
"I find it obscene that a child of 14, no matter if she is a star, no matter how sophisticated, is used to peddle designer fashion, surely as bad for teen girls as smoking or underage sex."
Yes, I'll repeat that: "SURELY AS BAD FOR TEEN GIRLS AS SMOKING OR UNDERAGE SEX." Was it just me or did I miss the cancerous effect of the campaign? Or am I being too naive in thinking that carcinogen Hailee Steinfeld is in fact a perfect role model for young girls; she is Oscar-nominated, an honour which most adult actors can't say for themselves, let alone a fourteen year old. I would be able to see some truth in Jones' statement if Steinfeld was wearing leather hot-pants, a spliff dangling from her fingers while, like, totally rad teenagers wore RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE t-shirts sitting on the bonnet of a second-hand Renault Clio in the background (not that there's anything wrong with Renault Clios, or any other reasonably priced 3 door hatchbacks available on the market). PR guru. But no. She looks extremely elegant and sophisticated, a perfect ambassador of the Miu Miu brand and for young girls the world over. Dear me. There is an old Chinese proverb, believed to have been uttered by a reclusive monk, which (nearly) says: "MY HATERS MAKE ME FAMOUS". Take heed young Steinfeld.
